のと鉄道は、2024年1月1日に発生した能登半島地震により線路の湾曲や線路上の土砂災害、各駅施設にも大きな被害が確認されており、5日現在も、復旧の見込みがたっていません。

1月5日付けの同社SNSには、被災した線路設備や駅舎、事務所と見られる室内などの画像が投稿されており、被害の大きさが伺い知れます。なお、職員全員の無事は確認されているとのことです。

これを受け、同社は国土交通省へ鉄道災害調査隊の派遣を要望。5日に国土交通省が鉄道・運輸機構に対し、鉄道災害調査隊(RAIL-FORCE)の派遣を要請したことを発表しました。1月9日(火)・10日(水)に、鉄道の整備について豊富なノウハウを有する職員で構成する鉄道災害調査隊(7名)を現地に派遣し、 被害概況の把握や施設被害状況調査や、復旧方法について技術的助言等を行うとしています。

のと鉄道の現在の状況については、以下の通りです。
